We specialise in safe, educational, exhilarating and authentic experiences for families.

With action-packed itineraries, infinite options for every mood, and all-included logistics, we’ve got every family member covered, from grandparents to grandchildren. It’ll be a fantastic first adventure for the kids. And for the older ones, it’s the ideal journey to tune in, reconnect and watch your family be captivated by Africa. Enjoy an adrenaline-filled, life-enriching experience where they see and feel first-hand our responsibility to protect our planet.

Every last aspect has been anticipated, planned, and arranged, from itineraries to logistics to payments. Our cool and collected team, who have hosted families of all sizes before, are constantly on hand to ensure that everyone is taken care of.

We have the perfect accommodation for your family

Our 1920s Camp and private Bush Villa are located in an exclusive part of the Maasai Mara wilderness and are ideal for families looking for an intimate safari experience in a spectacular setting. Private vehicles, private guides, and private use of the camp and villa are all available. Make your family safari private, intimate and unforgettable.

Our 1920s Camp has three tents designed specifically for families. These spacious open plan tents keep your children close by, but they have their own bathroom and there’s an open plan lounge/dining area and fireplace for you all to enjoy together. If you prefer a more permanent style, then our exclusive-use private Bush Villa is perfect, with everyone under one roof. It has its own kitchen, lounge/tv room and swimming pool.

Experiences for all ages

Going on a safari with your children is sure to be one of the most unforgettable trips you’ll ever have. What could be more magical than a child’s delight at seeing a lion for the first time, or sharing tales with a Maasai warrior by the campfire? Nature can provide a lifetime of bonding experiences and memories.

The wilderness is the best classroom, and our team is second to none when it comes to entertaining and captivating young minds with adventures and lessons in the bush.

From learning to make a bow and arrow and light a fire (bush style) in our Maasai Warrior School, to beading with Mamma Naishuro Batian; drawing and learning all about conservation, Maasai culture and identifying insects, flora and fauna in our Explorers Tent; learning from our hunter-gatherer Letilet on a bush walk; to identifying constellations in the starry African night sky; and so so much more. We aim to enthral, amaze and educate the whole family on this trip of a lifetime.

When it comes to travelling, often our happiest memories are those spent exploring new places with our family or people closest to us. On a safari, these experiences shared together are possibly even more memorable owing to the nature of being in the wild, far removed from the rush of commuters, traffic congestion and shopping malls. At Cottar’s there is time to slow down and be more mindful of our imprint on the earth and absorb what’s unfolding all around us in this magical wilderness.
